Tool University Training

All customers have the opportunity to attend our Tool University (Tool-U) training at our corporate headquarters in Portland, Oregon. This service is provided free of charge to customers, your team will receive technical and practical training, learning how to effectively troubleshoot, test, and properly use the tool, which will reduce down time and help you achieve maximum tool performance.

AIMCO utilizes a team of experts to cover all elements influencing the fastening process, exploring the synergy between the joint, power tool, torque measurement, and operator handling. this knowledge can be applied to almost any assembly process regardless of the tool brand.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Preventative maintenance

Why is Preventative Maintenance important?

Regular scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) is essential and highly recommended for any pneumatic, battery-powered, or DC tool. Proper scheduled maintenance helps:

·         Identify and address any wear or potential unforeseen issues before they develop into major failures

·         Maintain tool performance and reliability

·         Reduce unplanned downtime due to unexpected failures during production use

·         Significantly extend the service life of a tool

·         Minimize repair costs

What is the Preventative Maintenance process for AcraDyne tools?

When a tool is sent to AIMCO’s Service Department for a Preventive Maintenance (PM)  Service, a Trained and Certified AcraDyne Technician will follow the same evaluation processes for every AcraDyne tool which includes:

·         Rigorous “AS-IS” pre-testing to help identify any potential issues or customer complaints

·         A complete tear down of the tool, and of all the internal subassemblies and components

·         Cleaning of every part so a proper inspection can be conducted

·         Replacement of any worn parts and regularly replaced PM parts, such as Orings, Bearings, Springs, and Fasteners

·         Individual bench testing and calibration of all electrical components

·         Bench Testing every motor while checking for decibel level, vibration, heat, and fault codes at different output intervals

·         Regreasing of all mechanical components such as gears, bearing, and ring gears

·         During reassembly, all fasteners will be replaced, torqued to spec, and verified

·         Calibration and Certification will ship with every PM or Repair Service

What is the Preventative Maintenance process for URYU tools?

What Is A Duty Cycle?

Duty cycle refers to the level of operational demand placed on a tool over a period of time.

There is no strictly defined standard for categorizing duty cycle as light, medium, or heavy. Actual operating conditions vary widely across assembly environments, and many variables influence the stress placed on a tool during operation. For this reason, duty cycle classifications should be considered as general guidelines.

When evaluating the duty cycle of a specific application, the following factors should be considered:

  • Rundown Time: Duration of tool operation during each fastening cycle

  • Time Between Rundowns: The rest or recovery time between fastening cycles.

  • Prevailing Torque: Resistance encountered before reaching the target torque.

  • Target Torque vs. Tool Rating: The relationship between the application torque requirement and the tool’s rated torque capacity.

  • Operator Technique: Handling methods, trigger usage, and overall operator interaction with the tool.

  • Environmental Conditions: Ambient temperature, dust, moisture, and other environmental factors at the point of use.
